I went for a walk in the woods last week to see how the Blackberries were making out and to figure out how long until they wood be ready. While I was on my travels, I discovered a few of the many forts that my older children have built during the summer. This one was built in an overturned tree and it makes a very spacious shelter on the inside.
I found myself feeling sentemental. My oldest is 16 and my youngest is nearly 13. There won't be many more years of these discoveries or creations. Stumbling apon them was like a window into their worlds.
Jeremy had brought a mattress and a dresser from the side of the road during spring cleanup last year into the woods. He made himself a haven underneath the apple tree. I know that they have spent many days climbing the apple tree. Jeremy is a bit of a monkey.
