Review - Special K Cracker Chips

I received a couple boxes of Special K Cracker Chips from Brand Power Home Tester Club to try out and review. Special K Cracker Chips are only 80 calories per serving. I'm calorie contentious these days, I gain weight easily and I want to be healthy.

I love the low calorie snack option! It makes a wonderful alternative to chips and most crackers when I'm craving something a little salty. Special K cracker chips pair well with hummus, dips and they are fantastic on their own. The Barbecue flavor actually tasted like barbecue sauce. The Sour Cream & Onion flavor, while yummy was very mild. I was hoping for stronger; but it was creamy. I really enjoyed both flavors. The Cracker Chips are very light and fluffy, but not quite as light as a rice cake,

Review - Crisco One Cup Stick

I received a free full product coupon from Shopper Army to try out Crisco's One Cup Stick. I love an excuse to bake! Although, I didn't expect that I would be sick the entirety of this campaign which made baking was a little more of a chore than usual. I also did not realize that I was out of pie plates when I was in the grocery store. That's okay! There is nothing wrong with rectangle pies. They might not be as beautiful; but they still taste the same.

First of all, I really like having the option of a premeasured shortening. Not that I mind measuring it myself, but truthfully I don't buy a lot of shortening. I usually use butter/margarine or oil. Having the option of shortening in appropriate sizes for whatever I'm baking actually encourages me to use the product.

The shortening comes with a measurement guide on the side. On the off chance that your recipe calls for less than a cup of shortening, Crisco has removed all the guess work and much of the mess. It even comes with a plastic container and lid so you can seal up any unused portions. It's a great idea; but it is also a little excessive in regards to packaging.

The quality is what you might expect from a Crisco product; the pie is fluffy and tastes delicious. Actually, the taste was almost nostalgic for me. It brought back memories of my mother's baking.

Disclaimer: I received this product free from Shopper Army so I could try it out and share my experiences. All opinions are my own.

Review - L'Oreal Fibralogy

My L'Oreal Fibralogy Voxbox arrived from Influenster. I was very excited to try it. My hair is very fine and while I do have a lot of it in the back, the top of my head is much thinner. I blame having two teenagers. It's possible, right?

My Voxbox contains the Fibralogy Shampoo, Thickening Booster and Fibralogy Conditioner.

This picture below was taken after my very first application of L'Oreal Fibralogy. My hair did feel a little bit thicker.  On my third wash I began noticing a slight difference in thickness. It has also dried out my hair just a little bit, but that works for me because I'm naturally oily. I really enjoy the smell of the product. I'm only required to use the thickness booster once a week, but I can use it twice a week for more intense results.

After a week of consistent use, I wasn't waking up with oily bangs. The moisture level is fairly normal. My hair is thicker and I dare say there is even a slight amount of volume! Here is a picture of me shortly after having I awoke this morning. You be the judge.

Does it work? YES! Is this product for everyone? NO! But, I would strongly recommend it for people who have fine, oily hair. If you do, then I recommend that you give it a try. I'm still using it.

Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

We Got a Plum Tree!

A few years ago Mat bought me a Plum tree from him and the boys for Mother's day. We didn't know at the time that you sometimes need different varieties of fruit trees for them to propagate. I'm pleased to announce that our plum tree finally has a mate and I will be planting it in the coming week. This one is a Vampire plum tree. The other tree I have might be an Early Golden. It's fruit is yellow, but I lost the tag a couple years ago. I'm happy to plant things that I know will be around for a while.

Check Out My Coupon Organizer!

My mother had found this bag at Frenchy's. I was using it to contain a couple of my journals and then placing the bag inside of my purse. I decided inside to place my journals inside of my purse and convert this bag into a coupon organizer.  I've been trying to organize my coupons for quite sometime and I could never find anything appropriate. I always had to bend the coupons and it was difficult to sort through. I'm thrilled to have something so functional.

Gardening - Early Spring Progress

Over the last couple weeks, I have been getting the property ready for the gardening season. I've made raised beds with large rock borders. The furthest bed will contain some perennials like rhubarb and asparagus.

I have some raised beds around the base of a few trees. The furthest one contains a bunch of garlic that I planted in the fall. The closest will contain a couple dwarf fruit trees and some salad greens.

I'm always a little terrified that the things I plant in the fall won't sprout. Fortunately, my garlic is starting to show. The whole bed is loaded with garlic. I can't wait to plant more things. I need to acquire some compost and manure this week.

Gardening - Cold Weather Seeds & Roots

This year I will be growing some Blue Potatoes in the potato bin I built. I picked up a bag of seeds at Dayton Fruit Stand this week. I will probably give away a few of the seeds. I think I bought more than I will use.

I also picked up some onion sets and shallots. I already have a few onion multipliers that I saved from last year. We go through a lot of onions here. I like the red onions because they are milder and easier on my stomach.

I picked up a couple artichoke roots. Some people have good luck with them coming back every year in Zone 6, if they mulch heavily. I'm going to try it. I've never grown artichokes before. I'm curious. I will be planting them as companions to my rhubarb and asparagus, as well as some kale and parsley in the same bed.

Gardening - Fruit Trees

This week I picked up 2 Dwarf Cherry Trees and 2 Honey Berry trees. It's a pretty long term investment but after a few years I will be able to harvest lots of fruit and other crops from my perennial food bearing plants. I'm very excited.
